At six, he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, which quickly ended any chance he had of growing up normally. His frightened, somewhat overprotective parents kept in him the house, homeschooled him, and generally hovered. Ty had little to no interest in schoolwork and generally managed the bare minimum. Boredom, however, lead him to take apart various electronic and mechanical devices around the house, and he quickly proved he had a knack for not only putting them back together but improving them. Ty's health stayed more or less stable with the help of doctors and drugs, but at seventeen his condition deteriorated into full-on heart failure. He spent most of that year in the hospital and a few months after his eighteenth birthday managed to get a heart transplant. Once he was officially dubbed completely healed up, he took off almost immediately, ignoring his parents worries and determined to actually live life for a change. After a little bit of wandering he found his way to Tampa, and all things considered it seems pretty likely he's going to stay.
